Derek Jump

Director of Development

Derek is a ten year combat veteran as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman who served from 2002 through 2011 and has multiple tours of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to include Operation Phantom Fury with the Third Battalion Fifth Marines of First Marine Division.  Having battled Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Derek knows firsthand what it means to be on the front line of military culture, and deeply understands the adversity that our nation’s heroes face once they return home from active duty service.

Upon separating from the military in 2012, Derek moved to Oklahoma with his wife Calyn.  Utilizing the Post 9/11 GI Bill, he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Public Health from the University of Central Oklahoma, and is earning his graduate degree in Nonprofit Leadership from Oklahoma City University.  He has been in the nonprofit field since 2013 working with the homeless veteran population and the communities throughout Central Oklahoma to construct Homeless Task Forces to combat the epidemic of Veteran Homelessness.

Derek is now the Director of Development for Warriors for Freedom, and is excited to take on new and exciting challenges that Veterans face in the wake of their service.  Derek’s passion is working with and for other service members to improve their quality of life and restore a sense of camaraderie for his fellow brother and sister Veterans.  The dedication he possess’ for assisting his comrades is what drives him to succeed on a daily basis.  He believes this work is what allows him to continue his service to our country in a different capacity, as we combat a different kind of fight here at home.
